There’s nothing quite like getting lost in a really good book. Unlike with a good movie or video game, where the appearance of the world is imagined by someone else, a book allows you to imagine a world of your own. This makes your experience with the book just that; your experience.

In honor of Independent Bookstore Day on Saturday, April 27, 2019, We thought we’d take some time to highlight a few of the local bookstores found right here in Metro Detroit!

Pages Bookshop

Found in northwest Detroit, Pages Bookshop is run by owner Susan Murphy, who personally decides which books make it onto Pages’ shelves. It’s a relatively small space, so being selective is important and with a master’s degree in library science, Murphy knows how to curate a great selection of reads. Also, they have a nice cat named Pip. How could you say no to Pip?

Library Bookstore

Library Bookstore has been serving the great Ferndale area for decades with a wide selection that ranges from Great American Novels to the most popular in young adult fiction. The space may seem small, but there are worlds upon worlds to discover in this shop.
